Gujarat's Bullet Train Dream Takes Shape: 16 River Bridges Complete!

The National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has announced the completion of 16 out of 21 river bridges planned on the Gujarat stretch of the 508-km Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor.

The most recent milestone is the 360-metre bridge over the Daman Ganga river in Valsad district, marking the fifth and final bridge in that segment. Situated between Boisar and Vapi bullet train stations, the bridge comprises nine full-span girders of 40 metres each, with pier heights ranging from 19 to 29 metres.

Initially, 20 river bridges were planned in Gujarat, but a realignment over the Vishwamitri river in Vadodara brought the total to 21.

The Valsad section also features completed bridges over the Auranga (320 m), Par (320 m), Kolak (160 m), and Darotha (80 m) rivers. The longest river bridge in Gujarat is a 1.4-km span across the Narmada river, featuring piers sunk to depths over 70 metres, with four piers taller than the 72.5-metre Qutub Minar.

Across the entire corridor, the longest bridge is the 2.4-km Vaitarna bridge in Maharashtra.
