MP's Green Leap: New Solar & Metro Projects Approved

The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved a series of major decisions across renewable energy, infrastructure, transportation, and law enforcement sectors.

Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya announced that the state will set up a 100 MW solar project and a 60 MW wind project in captive mode to reduce energy costs associated with rural drinking water supply schemes. The power generated will support the group village water supply schemes implemented by the MP Jal Nigam. A revolving Letter of Credit mechanism will be introduced to ensure payment security.

Currently, 147 drinking water schemes valued at ₹60,786 crore are under implementation to supply clean drinking water to over 75 lakh rural households across 35,000+ villages.

In the transportation sector, the Cabinet approved consultancy charges for Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Ujjain–Indore–Pithampur Metro corridor at a cost of ₹9 lakh per km.

Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned the procurement of 3,200 MW of thermal power, along with an additional 800 MW under the “greenshoe” option, to meet rising power demands in the state.
