Yogi Adityanath's ₹1,000 Crore Healthcare Boost Transforms KGMU

On 14 July 2025, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation for a series of transformative healthcare projects worth ₹1,000 crore at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow, underscoring the government’s commitment to building a future-ready healthcare ecosystem in Uttar Pradesh.

Key highlights of the launch include:

Inauguration of a ₹105-crore state-of-the-art cardiology wing, expanding Lari Cardiology's capacity from 84 to 176 beds, with 92 new ICCU beds and cutting-edge diagnostic facilities.

Opening of Uttar Pradesh’s first high-tech Orthopaedic Super Speciality Centre, a 340-bed facility built at a cost of ₹86 crore, offering specialised care in orthoplasty, spine surgery, paediatric orthopaedics, sports medicine, and advanced radiology and pathology. The centre features 24 HDU beds and 24 private rooms.

Additionally, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for:

A ₹378-crore seven-storey general surgery block, to include robotic surgery capabilities, 12 modular OTs, a 12-bed ICU, and solar-powered infrastructure.

A ₹48-crore expansion including a new administrative block, diagnostic laboratory, patient accommodation, and a guest house.

The CM also emphasized collaboration with IIT-Kanpur to drive medical technology innovation, reinforcing the state’s focus on combining healthcare with cutting-edge research and digital transformation.
