Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Dubna Iron Ore Mines and launched key IT and green energy projects during the 70th Foundation Day celebration of the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) at OUAT, Bhubaneswar, on May 17, 2025.
The event saw participation from senior officials, including Steel & Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, and OMC Managing Director Sudhansu Mohan Samal. Located in Barbil, Keonjhar district, the Dubna mines have a production capacity of 3 million tonnes of iron ore and 0.05 million tonnes of manganese annually, with total reserves of 25.77 million tonnes of iron ore and 2.6 million tonnes of manganese.
As part of its green energy push, OMC commissioned a 920 kWp solar power plant across its Barbil and Koira operations, along with new power infrastructure at the Tiringpahar Mines and Rengalbeda RR Colony. In a step toward digital transformation, four IT platforms were launched: the Logistics Management System (LMS), Plotwise Land Use System (OPLUS), Finance Management System (OFMS), and Recruitment Management System (ORMS).
The Chief Minister reaffirmed Odisha’s Vision 2036 to become a manufacturing hub, highlighting the importance of downstream industrialisation, ore beneficiation, and pelletisation to generate employment and attract investment.
