Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister KH Muniyappa has announced that drinking water from the Yettinahole project will reach Bengaluru Rural district within a year, as longstanding obstacles have been cleared and work is now progressing rapidly.
Speaking at the launch of borewell pump motor distribution under the Ganga Kalyana scheme in Devanahalli, he noted that the project has entered a critical execution phase. Pipeline construction spanning nearly 250 km is underway, with water first being stored near Koratagere in Tumakuru district before being further distributed to drought-prone areas. “The obstacles that delayed the Yettinahole project have now been resolved,” the Minister said, adding that the project has an allocation of 20 TMC of water, with drinking water needs given top priority.
Minister Muniyappa highlighted that, together with the KC Valley and HN Valley projects, Yettinahole will help improve groundwater levels, revive agriculture, generate employment opportunities, and strengthen rural livelihoods across the region.
