On 8 September 2025, the Maharashtra Cabinet approved a proposal to raise ₹2,000 crore from the Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO) under the Urban Infrastructure Development Loan Scheme, aimed at helping civic bodies secure matching funds for critical infrastructure projects.
The move will enable several urban authorities to advance key initiatives:
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation will mobilize ₹822.22 crore for a water supply project.
Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority will access ₹268.84 crore for constructing four sewage treatment plants.
Mira-Bhayandar Municipal Corporation will raise ₹116.28 crore for another water supply initiative.
The scheme is designed to ensure the continuity of projects under AMRUT 2.0, Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, and various state-led urban programmes.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved:
₹4.76 crore for repairs to the Ghongha micro-irrigation project (commissioned in 1986).
₹4.92 crore for the Kanadi project (commissioned in 1977) in Akola district, aimed at enhancing water storage and irrigation capacity.
In another key decision, the Cabinet sanctioned the allotment of four hectares in Asudgaon, Raigad, to the Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau at 50% of the ready reckoner rate for the development of residential quarters.
