The Central government has granted environmental clearance for the Kodangal–Narayanapet Link Project in Telangana, aimed at addressing drinking water requirements across three Assembly constituencies, including Kodangal.
The Telangana government submitted the proposal for environmental clearance on 13 January, and following a detailed review by the state-level authority, the Centre approved the project on 29 January. Upon completion, the project will enable the lifting of approximately 4 thousand million cubic feet (TMC) of water to meet the drinking water needs of Narayanpet, Mukthal, and surrounding areas.
The water will be lifted in three phases, ensuring a reliable supply for both drinking water and irrigation purposes. The initiative is expected to significantly enhance water availability in the region, benefiting local communities and supporting agricultural requirements.
