A major infrastructure upgrade is set to transform South Delhi, as the Public Works Department (PWD) has granted administrative approval for a ₹1,471.1 crore elevated road project along the Mehrauli–Badarpur Road.
The project entails the construction of a 12 km integrated transit corridor aimed at easing chronic traffic congestion on one of the capital’s busiest stretches. It will feature a six-lane elevated roadway, complemented by a series of underpasses, to improve traffic flow between G Block in Saket and Pul Prahladpur.
The corridor has been strategically planned in coordination with infrastructure developed by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), ensuring seamless integration of road and metro systems along the same route. This approach is expected to enhance connectivity while minimising disruptions during and after construction.
Passing through densely populated areas such as Mehrauli, Saket, Khanpur, Tughlaqabad, and Pul Prahladpur, the corridor is expected to significantly benefit daily commuters. It also serves as a vital link between Delhi and key NCR cities like Gurgaon and Faridabad, improving regional connectivity and reducing travel time.
