The completion deadline for the 12.75-km, six-lane Aroor–Thuravoor elevated highway in Kerala has been extended to March 2027 from its initial target of December 2026.
Set to become India’s longest single-pillar flyover, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is currently preparing to initiate load testing on the structure to evaluate load-bearing performance and overall readiness. The project's timeline was expanded to accommodate six additional spans (~150 metres) beyond the congested Thuravoor Junction toward Thuravoor Temple to prevent post-completion traffic bottlenecks. Contractor KCC Buildcon is executing this extended section.
Once operational, the elevated corridor along NH-66 will significantly improve regional connectivity and relieve severe traffic congestion along the Aroor–Thuravoor stretch.
