Kadamakkudy Bridge Alignment Officially Approved

The long-awaited Paliyam Thuruth-Kadamakkudy bridge project has cleared a massive administrative roadblock after stakeholders officially approved its final alignment. Chaired by Vypeen MLA Tony Chammany at the Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) headquarters, a high-level meeting successfully resolved a critical land dispute. A vital 7.5-cent plot owned by the Kochi Water Metro will now be transferred for construction without disrupting future transit expansions.

Funded by KIIFB and executed by KRFB, this bridge is the final puzzle piece in connecting the Goshree island clusters. For decades, the Kadamakkudy archipelago was isolated from mainland Kochi, leaving residents dependent on ferries and country boats. Building on the existing Moolampilly-Pizhala and Valiya Kadamakudy-Chatanad bridges, this new link will create a seamless mainland corridor, slashing travel times to Kochi city. Beyond easier commutes, the bridge is set to supercharge Kadamakkudy’s local economy, boosting aquaculture, traditional industries, and its booming responsible tourism scene. With alignment and land hurdles cleared, officials are now fast-tracking land acquisition and engineering schedules to kickstart construction.
