The long-pending four-lane elevated corridor connecting Chennai Port and Maduravoyal is expected to become operational by November 2027, according to S. Viswanathan, Chairperson of the Chennai Port Authority.
The ₹3,570-crore infrastructure project, being executed by NHAI, has achieved nearly 25–27% physical progress so far.
Addressing reporters on Friday, Viswanathan said construction activities are progressing at a fast pace and expressed confidence that the elevated corridor would be completed within the scheduled timeline.
To support seamless integration with the upcoming corridor, Chennai Port Authority is also investing ₹37.18 crore in internal road upgrades and intersection improvement works within the port area.
Once completed, the elevated corridor is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and improve cargo movement and logistics efficiency between Chennai Port and major transport corridors across the city.
