Himachal’s Apple Belt Set for ₹239 Cr Highway Revamp

The Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has granted administrative approval for ₹239.45 crore under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) 2026–27 to upgrade two key road corridors in Himachal Pradesh.

The sanction covers ₹203.52 crore for upgrading the Chhaila–Neripul–Yashwant Nagar–Kumarhatti Road and ₹35.93 crore to complete the remaining 16-km stretch of the Tikkar–Jarol–Khamadi Road. Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh attributed the sanction to persistent state-level advocacy with the Union government. He noted that the improved corridors will transform the local horticulture sector by facilitating safer, faster transport for produce, reducing post-harvest losses, and strengthening rural livelihoods across apple-producing belts like Theog, Kotkhai, and Rampur.
