Wipro Powers India's Electronics Future with ₹500 Cr CCL Plant

Wipro Infrastructure Engineering (WIN), a division of Wipro Enterprises, has announced a ₹500 crore investment to set up India’s first copper-clad laminate (CCL) manufacturing facility in Karnataka.

The project marks the launch of Wipro Electronic Materials, WIN’s new business division aimed at bolstering India’s electronics manufacturing capabilities and addressing critical supply chain gaps. The facility is expected to be operational by 2026 and will produce over six million sheets of CCL and prepreg materials annually, creating employment for around 350 people.

The plant will cater to sectors such as telecom, automotive, artificial intelligence, and consumer electronics, significantly reducing India’s reliance on imports—currently, 100% of CCL demand is met through imports.

Pratik Kumar, CEO of WIN and Managing Director of Wipro Enterprises, said: “This highly advanced CCL facility reflects our strategic vision to build future-ready capabilities and enable India to play a larger role in the global electronics technology ecosystem.”

The initiative has received key support from the Government of Karnataka and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), positioning Wipro as a major player in the global advanced electronics materials supply chain.
