Steel Minister Fast-Tracks expansion at SAIL’s IISCO Plant

Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy reviewed operations and future expansion plans at SAIL’s IISCO Steel Plant (ISP) in Burnpur during a three-day West Bengal visit starting July 12, 2026. Meeting with SAIL Chairman Ashok Kumar Panda and senior officials, the Minister evaluated operational efficiency, technology adoption, and capital expenditure strategies. Key milestones of the visit included inspecting the COB-12 Stamp Charge Coke Oven Battery Project and inaugurating an 84,000 cubic meter RCC Water Reservoir, which is critical to securing water resources for the planned 4.08 MTPA expansion. The Minister emphasized the necessity of completing these strategic projects on schedule to support India’s industrial growth.
