Tata Steel & Lloyds Metals: Strategic Tie-Up Begins

Lloyds Metals and Energy, led by Managing Director B. Prabhakaran, has signed a non-binding MoU with Tata Steel, represented by CEO and MD T. V. Narendran, to explore a strategic partnership.

The proposed collaboration aims to leverage synergies in raw material mining, logistics, pellet production, and steelmaking. Under the MoU, both companies will assess opportunities in greenfield steel projects, iron ore mining, slurry pipeline infrastructure, and the development of low-carbon iron and steel products, with a strong emphasis on sustainable growth in the Indian steel sector. A key focus area is Maharashtra’s Gadchiroli district, where the companies aim to ramp up iron ore production and position the region as a major steel hub.

They will also examine potential Tata Steel participation in Lloyds Metals’ existing steel projects. “This partnership will combine our strengths to drive efficiency and sustainability in the industry,” Prabhakaran said.
