Golden Opportunity: Tamil Nadu's ₹126-Crore Jewellery Park

The Tamil Nadu government is set to establish the country's first dedicated gold jewellery manufacturing park at the SIDCO Industrial Estate in Kurichi, Coimbatore. The ₹126-crore initiative aims to boost the state’s jewellery manufacturing sector and will be developed in two phases.

Originally proposed over a decade ago during the DMK's earlier tenure and later pursued by the AIADMK, the project is now moving forward under the current DMK government. MSME Minister T.M. Anbarasan has confirmed that the detailed project report is nearing completion.

Spread across 2.46 acres, the park will feature a total built-up area of 8.57 lakh sq. ft. and house state-of-the-art facilities, including 3D printing, laser cutting, hallmark testing labs, secure vaults, exhibition and conference halls, a training centre, and a food court.

Phase I will see the development of over 400 manufacturing units, comprising:

28 large units (500 sq. ft. each)

72 medium units (200 sq. ft.)

316 small units (100 sq. ft.)

The facility will also offer parking space for 12 trucks, 21 cars, and 1,200 two-wheelers.

Phase II will expand capacity with the addition of 315 medium-sized and 2,500 small units.

The entire project is expected to be completed within 18 months from commencement, making it a significant milestone in India’s gold jewellery manufacturing landscape.
