Hindustan Zinc’s Next Chapter: $600M Committed for Expansion

Hindustan Zinc has announced plans to deploy $500–600 million in capital expenditure during the current financial year to accelerate its integrated mining and metal production capabilities.

Approximately 80% of the budget will fund ongoing expansion, while 20% is set aside for upcoming projects expected to be unveiled shortly.

As part of its broader strategic roadmap to scale overall production capacity to 1 million tonnes per annum (tpa), the company is actively executing approved projects adding 250,000 tpa of capacity. Backed by an investment of roughly ₹12,000 crore spanning mining and mineralisation, construction on the associated smelter has officially begun, and mining equipment orders have been secured.

The remaining expansion phase—targeting an additional 650,000 tpa—is projected over a 4-to-5-year horizon with a similar financial commitment.
