Trichy’s Newest Star: TTDC Revamps Kajamalai Luxury Hotel

The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has announced plans to upgrade a luxury hotel in Kajamalai, Trichy, which it recently reclaimed.

The renovation and expansion will be carried out through a public-private partnership (PPP) model, which will also manage the hotel’s operation and maintenance. Originally, in the early 1990s, TTDC had leased the 4.7-acre property to a private company. However, after the lease expired, the hotel group owed substantial unpaid dues. TTDC declined a request for lease renewal and took back the property. The matter was brought before the Madras High Court, which directed the handover to TTDC due to the expired lease and outstanding payments.

Since taking possession in October, TTDC has planned a renovation of the 25-year-old hotel, preserving its original structure while transforming it into one of the state-owned “Hotel Tamil Nadu” properties.
