Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) Transportation Infrastructure business has secured a significant contract from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) to construct 156 route kilometers (RKM) of high-speed ballastless track under Package T1 of the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (MAHSR) Corridor.
The contract involves the design, supply, construction, testing, and commissioning of track works on a design-build lump sum basis, covering the stretch from Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) in Mumbai to Zaroli village in Gujarat, near the Maharashtra-Gujarat border. The scope includes more than 21 km of underground track (associated with Civil Packages C1 and C2) and 135 km of elevated viaduct track under Package C3.
This marks L&T’s second major track package in the MAHSR project. The company previously secured Package T3 in April 2022, covering 116 km between south Vadodara and the Sabarmati depot. With the addition of Package T1, L&T now commands over 50% of the track works for India’s first bullet train corridor.
The project will feature Japanese Shinkansen J Slab Track Technology, designed to support operational speeds of up to 320 kmph, ensuring superior ride quality, longer service life, and easier maintenance.
