West Central Railway, Bhopal Division, has issued a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) to the KERNEX–KEC Consortium for implementing KAVACH, India’s indigenous automatic train protection (ATP) system. The project will be deployed over a UHF backbone with optical fiber cable (OFC) to ensure route diversity.
The contract scope includes the Itarsi (excluding)–Khandwa (excluding) and Bina (excluding)–Ruthiyai sections, along with associated segments of the Bhopal Division. The accepted bid value is ₹151.41 crore, with a stipulated completion timeline of 20 months from the date of the LoA.
With this latest award, the cumulative value of KAVACH contracts secured by the consortium and its partners since April 1, 2024, now stands at ₹3,136.53 crore.
Officials noted that this achievement further solidifies the KERNEX–KEC Consortium’s role in executing safety-critical and large-scale railway modernisation initiatives across the country.
