NHPC Taps Reliance Infra for 390 MW Solar Project

Reliance Infrastructure has received a Letter of Award (LoA) from NHPC, a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise, for the development of a 390 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power project integrated with a battery energy storage system (BESS).

Once commissioned, the project will contribute 700 MWp of solar DC capacity and 780 MWh of BESS capacity to the Reliance Group’s growing renewable energy portfolio. The project was awarded at a highly competitive tariff of ₹3.13/kWh, following an NHPC tender that drew strong interest from 15 bidders, with 14 qualifying for the e-reverse auction.

Reliance Power, a part of the Reliance Group, currently operates nearly 2.5 GWp of solar capacity and 2.5 GWh of BESS. With this new project, the Group's clean energy pipeline will expand to over 3 GWp of solar DC and 3.5 GWh of BESS—positioning it as India’s largest integrated developer of solar-plus-storage projects.

This win further strengthens the Reliance Group’s leadership in next-generation energy solutions, aligning with India’s broader goals for energy transition and grid stability.
