Larsen & Toubro’s Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HCI) vertical has secured a major contract from the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) for the 2x1000 MWe Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (Units 5 & 6) in Tamil Nadu.
Scope of Work:
The contract covers a comprehensive mechanical package, including:
Installation of nuclear reactors, turbine systems, generators, and condensers
Setup of sea water systems, polar cranes, trestle cranes, and auxiliary equipment
Integration of piping systems, accessories, structural steel, and supporting infrastructure
Application of painting, anti-corrosion coatings, thermal insulation
Extensive testing and commissioning across multiple plant buildings
Strategic Significance:
This award reinforces L&T’s leadership in complex nuclear infrastructure and its role as a key partner in India’s clean energy journey. The Kudankulam project is a cornerstone in expanding the nation’s nuclear power capacity, providing sustainable, low-carbon energy to support long-term energy security and environmental goals.
