On June 11, 2025, the Goa State Cabinet selected Comt Constructions as the lowest bidder for the construction of the Unity Mall at Chimbel, Goa, at an estimated cost of ₹161 crore.
To facilitate the project, the state government transferred 25,000 square meters of land in Chimbel—previously under the IT Department—to the Tourism Department for the development of the mall and related activities.
The Unity Mall project is a Government of India initiative under the Ministry of Finance, aimed at promoting the ‘Make in India’ campaign, supporting the ‘One District, One Product’ concept, and showcasing Indian handicrafts.
The Goa government submitted a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Ministry of Finance, which approved the proposal and sanctioned ₹100 crore under Part VI of the ‘Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2023-24’ scheme. Of this, 50% of the sanctioned amount has already been released to the state government to commence the project.
