Powering Odisha’s Future: The Rs 16,000 Crore Grid Revolution

In a major push to guarantee reliable, high-quality electricity and power future industrial growth, the Odisha government has unveiled a Rs 16,000 crore infrastructure blueprint targeting 2030.

Driven by projections of nearly 590 upcoming industrial projects, the state is fast-tracking transmission upgrades. Over the past two years alone, Odisha has commissioned 15 new grid substations—bringing the operational total to 210—and added 788.99 circuit km of transmission lines. Central to this modernization effort is the development of a state-of-the-art 765 KV grid ring system, anchored by operational 765/400 KV facilities in Angul and Sundargarh, alongside plans for additional 400 KV substations and grid enhancements statewide.
