Germany-based ZF Group, a leading global automotive supplier and technology company, has inaugurated its 19th manufacturing facility in India—and its 11th in Tamil Nadu—with the launch of a new plant in Coimbatore. This facility is strategically focused on serving the construction and railway sectors, both within India and in international markets.
With an investment of €20 million (approximately ₹192 crore), the Coimbatore plant underscores ZF’s commitment to localizing technologies, products, and solutions for India's growing mobility and infrastructure sectors. Spread across 10,000 square meters, the plant will supply advanced technologies to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in India and abroad.
The facility will manufacture the ERGOPOWER M automatic powershift transmission, renowned for its performance and quality in a range of construction machinery. It will also localize production of the EcoMet transmission for the Indian railway sector, further enhancing ZF’s product offerings for rail applications. Additionally, the plant will support ZF’s digital portfolio, including solutions like connect@rail.
Peter Laier, Member of the ZF Group Board of Management, stated, “This facility aligns with our global strategy of growing closer to our customers and reaffirms ZF’s dedication to fostering innovation and growth in this pivotal market.”
The new Coimbatore plant positions ZF to better meet India’s rapidly expanding industrial and transportation needs, while strengthening its role as a key contributor to the country’s mobility transformation.
