ACME Group has entered into a joint venture (JV) with Japan’s IHI Corporation to develop India’s largest green ammonia facility at Gopalpur, Odisha. The partnership stems from a 2023 MoU and has since achieved key milestones, including land acquisition, completion of front-end engineering design (FEED), and IHI’s acquisition of a 30% stake in ACME Clean Energy.
The facility will produce 0.4 million tonnes of green ammonia annually, primarily for export to Japanese power and chemical sectors, supporting Japan’s broader decarbonization strategy.
Expected to be commissioned by 2029–30, the project will mitigate over 0.8 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year. Ongoing development activities include EPC contracting, renewable energy integration, and ammonia evacuation infrastructure.
ACME Group Chairman Manoj Kumar Upadhyay said:
“Our joint venture is a milestone not only for ACME Group but for India’s journey towards becoming a global leader in green hydrogen and green ammonia.”
