Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and Oil India Limited (OIL) have entered into a joint venture agreement to develop City Gas Distribution (CGD) infrastructure across Arunachal Pradesh. The agreement was signed at BPCL’s corporate headquarters in Mumbai, in the presence of senior executives from both organizations.
The joint venture will focus on building an integrated network of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations and Piped Natural Gas (PNG) systems to supply clean and efficient energy to residential, commercial, and industrial consumers across the state.
This partnership follows the BPCL-OIL consortium’s successful bid under the 12th City Gas Distribution Bid Round, conducted by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB).
Sanjay Khanna, Chairman and Managing Director of BPCL, emphasized the company’s commitment to clean energy expansion in India’s Northeast. “This initiative will promote sustainable development and significantly enhance the quality of life in Arunachal Pradesh,” he stated.
OIL Chairman Ranjit Rath highlighted the company’s deep-rooted presence in the region through its hydrocarbon operations. He also pointed to the successful commissioning of the Kumchai-Kusijan gas pipeline last year as a testament to OIL’s commitment to strengthening energy infrastructure in the state.
