The Board of Directors of National Fertilizers Limited (NFL), in its meeting held on April 18, 2025, approved entering into a Joint Venture Agreement with nominated companies for the establishment of the Namrup-IV Fertilizer Plant in Namrup, Assam. This strategic initiative reinforces NFL’s commitment to expanding its presence in the northeastern region and scaling up urea production to support India’s growing agricultural needs.
The joint venture will be formed in collaboration with selected entities—yet to be publicly named—and will lead to the formation of a Joint Venture Company (JVC) responsible for executing the Namrup-IV project. NFL plans to acquire an 18% equity stake in the JVC, with an estimated investment of ₹572.45 crore. The transaction is subject to necessary regulatory approvals from the Department of Fertilizers (DoF), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers.
The Namrup-IV project envisions the development of a modern ammonia-urea production complex. As per the current project schedule, mechanical completion and commissioning are targeted within 48 months from the project's zero date.
