TGV SRAAC Ltd. (formerly Sree Rayalaseema Alkalies and Allied Chemicals) has awarded a contract to thyssenkrupp nucera to expand its caustic soda production facility in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The project will increase the plant’s capacity from 1,000 tonnes per day (tpd) to 1,500 tpd.
As part of the agreement, thyssenkrupp nucera will supply engineering services and proprietary equipment, incorporating its advanced e-BiTAC electrolysis technology featuring Generation 7 elements.
The expansion involves the installation of three new electrolysers, augmenting the plant’s existing fleet of ten. The scope also includes setting up a new chlorine unit, a waste air dichlorination system, and upgraded primary and secondary brine purification systems.
TGV SRAAC, the flagship company of the TGV Group, is a leading manufacturer of chlor-alkali products. In addition to its core chemical portfolio, the company produces castor derivatives and fatty acids, and operates a 28 MW commercial power plant.
