KBR’s proprietary ROSE (Residuum Oil Supercritical Extraction) technology has reached a key operational milestone with its successful commissioning at Hindustan Petroleum Corporation’s (HPCL) Visakhapatnam refinery. Integrated into the new Residue Upgradation Facility (RUF), the 24,530 BPSD unit will enhance refinery efficiency and profitability by converting roughly 93% of low-value, bottom-of-the-barrel heavy residues into higher-value petroleum products.
This project marks HPCL’s second adoption of KBR’s supercritical solvent deasphalting solutions, building on the proven track record of the ROSE SDA unit commissioned at its Mumbai refinery in 2009. With a dominant market share and extensive licensed capacity globally, KBR’s ROSE platform remains a premier choice for refiners seeking to optimize product yields and drive long-term asset value.
