Toyota Motor Corporation is expanding its manufacturing presence in India with plans to establish a new vehicle production facility at Bidkin in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.
The project is expected to attract investments of around ₹20,000 crore over multiple phases, according to officials from the state Industries Department, although Toyota Kirloskar Motor did not disclose the investment figure in its official announcement.
The company said the upcoming plant will be developed as a greenfield manufacturing facility within the Bidkin Industrial Area, with production operations expected to commence in the first half of 2029.
The proposed facility will have an initial annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles and is expected to create employment opportunities for nearly 2,800 people. Toyota added that the first model to be manufactured at the plant will be a new sport utility vehicle (SUV).
The Maharashtra project represents a significant strategic expansion for Toyota as it looks to strengthen its footprint in India’s rapidly growing automotive market and support future demand growth in the passenger vehicle segment.
