The Heart of SAVWIPL: Celebrating 500,000 Engines in Pune

Škoda Auto Volkswagen India (SAVWIPL) has reached a major milestone, producing its 500,000th engine at its Chakan facility in Pune. This achievement highlights the company’s commitment to the Make in India initiative and its integral role in global automotive manufacturing.

Since beginning operations in 2014, the Chakan plant has focused on localized production while upholding international quality standards. The engines manufactured here serve both domestic and international markets, reinforcing India’s position as a key export hub within the Group’s global network.

SAVWIPL prioritizes sustainability by integrating advanced powertrain technologies. The Group’s 1.0-litre TSI engine features cutting-edge exhaust emission technology, while the 1.5-litre TSI engine incorporates Active Cylinder Technology (ACT) to enhance fuel efficiency.

Commenting on the milestone, Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto board member for production and logistics, stated, "Producing 500,000 engines at our Pune facility is a remarkable achievement, reaffirming India’s importance in our global manufacturing network." The company’s strong focus on domestic sourcing further strengthens India’s automotive manufacturing and supply ecosystem.
