Schneider Electric Infrastructure's Board of Directors has approved a significant enhancement to its capital expenditure plan for the Kolkata Medium Voltage Components (KMVC) facility. Driven by rising demand and a strategy of manufacturing localization, the company’s total active capex commitment for the facility now stands at ₹291.2 crore, up from the earlier planned outlay of ₹228.6 crore.
A primary driver of this increase is the Medium Voltage (MV) Vacuum Interrupters segment, where the capex allocation has been raised from ₹138 crore to ₹184 crore. This additional ₹46 crore commitment will scale annual production targets to 250,000 units—a substantial upgrade from the previously planned 180,000 units and the legacy capacity of 80,000 units. The expanded facility will house production lines for both MV Vacuum Interrupters and MV Vacuum Circuit Breaker assemblies.
In tandem, the board approved an investment increase for a dedicated Mechanism Assembly Line at KMVC, raising the budget from ₹90.6 crore to ₹107.2 crore to improve operational integration.
The company aims to have the enhanced capacity fully operational by June 30, 2028 (Q1 FY 2028–29), utilizing a combination of internal accruals, debt, or other financing options to fund the expansion.
