In a major boost to the India-Japan economic partnership, Maruti Suzuki India has inaugurated its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at IMT Kharkhoda, Haryana. Virtually unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi at the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum, the "Suzuki Smart Factory" sets a new benchmark in automotive manufacturing.
By blending Industry 5.0 practices with human-aware collaborative robots (cobots), the facility optimizes human-machine synergy alongside real-time digital monitoring to cut energy use and boost productivity. With a massive Rs 35,000 crore investment, the plant is projected to create 21,000+ jobs and scale up to an annual capacity of 1 million units—making it one of the largest vehicle manufacturing plants in the world.
