VinFast Auto India, the Indian subsidiary of Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast, has finalized critical infrastructure and operational support ahead of the upcoming inauguration of its manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, scheduled for later this month.
As part of its entry into the Indian market, VinFast unveiled its first showroom on Mount Road in Chennai, offering a preview of its upcoming electric SUV models. To strengthen its service and charging ecosystem, the company has partnered with EV infrastructure provider RoadGrid and signed a service agreement with automotive solutions firm myTVS.
On July 10, 2025, VinFast also announced the induction of its first batch of 200 locally recruited professionals at the Thoothukudi plant. Over the next five years, the facility is expected to generate employment for up to 3,500 people through phased hiring aligned with production ramp-up. This recruitment initiative is being carried out in collaboration with "Naan Mudhalvan," the Tamil Nadu government’s flagship skilling program, aimed at preparing local youth for industry-ready roles.
VinFast plans to launch its first two electric SUV models—VF 6 and VF 7—in the Indian market. The Thoothukudi plant will have an installed annual production capacity of 1.5 lakh vehicles, positioning it as a key player in India’s growing EV sector.
