Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), the country’s leading passenger vehicle manufacturer, has expanded its solar energy capacity by 30 megawatt peak (MWp), aiming to reach 319 MWp by FY31. This expansion involves an investment exceeding ₹925 crore, reinforcing the company's commitment to sustainable energy.
As part of the initiative, MSIL commissioned a 20 MWp solar project at its new Kharkhoda facility in Haryana and added another 10 MWp at its Manesar facility. With these additions, MSIL's total installed solar capacity has grown from 49 MWp to 79 MWp within a year.
Aligning with Suzuki Motor Corporation’s Environment Vision 2050 and the Indian government’s renewable energy goals, MSIL is integrating green energy more deeply into its operations. The company also plans to source green power through State Electricity Boards, supporting its ambition to scale production to four million units while minimizing its carbon footprint.
