Samvardhana Motherson International (SAMIL) has announced a strategic acquisition aimed at strengthening its manufacturing capabilities and advanced coating technologies.
The company has acquired a 51 percent equity stake in Nissin Advanced Coating Indo Co. (Nissin India) from Japan-based Nissin Electric Co. As part of the transaction, the remaining 49 percent will be held by its wholly owned subsidiary, Samvardhana Motherson Innovative Solutions, effectively making Nissin India an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of the group.
The move is aligned with Motherson’s broader expansion strategy to enhance technological capabilities and increase its focus on value-added offerings.
The acquisition is expected to support backward integration, improve operational efficiencies, and enable faster decision-making across its global operations. It also reinforces the company’s inorganic growth approach to building expertise in high-performance materials and surface treatment solutions.
With growing demand for advanced coatings in the automotive sector, the deal is likely to help Motherson scale up operations while improving cost efficiencies and strengthening its competitive position.
