SVPIA's New Horizon: A Modern Terminal for a Growing City

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) in Ahmedabad is set for a significant upgrade, with construction of a New Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) scheduled to begin by March 2026.

Adani Ahmedabad International Airport Ltd. (AAIAL) plans to relocate the existing Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower, state hangar, and general aviation terminal to make way for a modern, consolidated terminal designed to accommodate growing passenger volumes over the next decade. The project will be executed in two phases—starting with terminal construction, followed by ATC infrastructure relocation.

The NITB is envisioned as a critical infrastructure component supporting Ahmedabad’s potential bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games. Once operational, the terminal will replace the existing Gujsail terminal, increasing annual passenger handling capacity from 1.2 crore (FY25) to 2 crore. It will integrate both domestic and international operations under one roof, offering streamlined transit and upgraded world-class amenities.

This expansion is part of the Adani Group’s broader plan to invest nearly ₹96,000 crore over five years in its airports business, focusing on infrastructure and real estate development across key aviation hubs.
