Smart & Seamless: The Jewar Airport Experience

Noida International Airport, also known as Jewar International Airport, is nearing completion in Gautam Buddha Nagar with its first runway and terminal ready for initial operations. Spread across 1,334 hectares, the project is being developed by Zurich International Airport AG in partnership with the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA). Notably, it is India’s first aviation project developed entirely through 100% foreign direct investment (FDI).

Once fully operational, Jewar Airport will house six runways and six terminals, aiming to handle up to 225 million passengers annually—a significant increase compared to the already saturated Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, which serves around 80 million passengers per year.

Strategically located just 700 meters from the Yamuna Expressway, the airport will be well-connected via major highways such as the Delhi–Mumbai Expressway, Lucknow–Agra Expressway, Ganga Expressway, and Meerut–Prayagraj Expressway. Travel time from Jaipur is expected to be just 2 hours and 21 minutes by road.

To ensure smooth multimodal connectivity, infrastructure such as a rapid rail corridor, Noida Metro extension, and a personal rapid transit (PRT) system are under development.

In a landmark achievement, YEIDA has secured 6,000 hectares of land for the project without any legal disputes or protests—a first in Indian infrastructure development, according to the state government.
