Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced 30 September 2025 as the target date for the inauguration of the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), following a site inspection with Deputy CM Eknath Shinde.
“This is an ambitious deadline, but achievable,” said CM Fadnavis, urging stakeholders—including the Adani Group, Navi Mumbai Airport Authority, and CIDCO—to accelerate progress by increasing the current workforce of 13,000. He confirmed that all necessary licenses for commercial operations are already in place.
As of now, 94% of physical work is complete, including the runways and terminal building. Once operational, NMIA will surpass Mumbai’s existing Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in scale, featuring two runways and a strong emphasis on green infrastructure. The airport will support EVs and alternative-fuel vehicles, and offer multi-modal connectivity via road, rail, metro, and water transport.
