With a renewed push to improve regional air connectivity, the Centre is set to fast-track multiple airport projects in Telangana, with visible progress expected in the coming months.
The long-pending Mamnoor Airport in Warangal is now moving ahead, with Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu stating that the foundation stone will be laid within three months. The state government has already transferred the required land, clearing key procedural hurdles. Once completed, Mamnoor will become the second airport in Telangana after Hyderabad, enhancing connectivity to northern districts and supporting tourism, trade, and logistics.
At the same time, plans for a new airport in Adilabad are advancing under a defence-civil aviation model. The Ministry of Defence is expected to establish a training facility while enabling civilian flight operations through a dedicated enclave. The defence authorities already have 360 acres of land, and the state government will acquire an additional 450 acres for the project.
The proposed airport is designed to handle Airbus A320 aircraft. A joint inspection and technical feasibility study are expected to be conducted soon, marking an important step forward in the project’s planning and development.
