Countdown to Takeoff: Bhogapuram Airport Set for July Launch

The upcoming Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram is expected to become operational in the first week of July, prompting authorities to fast-track connectivity and supporting infrastructure projects across the region.

To ensure seamless access to the airport, Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore has directed various departments to complete key road connectivity projects linking Visakhapatnam with the airport by June 30. During a review meeting at the Collectorate, officials assessed the progress of seven major airport access roads, as well as land pooling and layout development activities being undertaken by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA).

Departments have been instructed to expedite road construction works, install street lighting and directional signage, and complete supporting infrastructure such as a bus terminal and electric vehicle charging facilities. The administration has also proposed engaging with ride-hailing service providers to ensure convenient transportation options for passengers traveling to and from the airport.

Authorities expect the new airport to enhance regional air connectivity, support tourism and trade, and drive economic growth across north Andhra Pradesh. Regular review meetings will continue to monitor project progress and address any pending issues to ensure readiness ahead of the airport’s inauguration.
