Powering Up India: TP Solar Hits 4 GW Solar Module Milestone

TP Solar, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL), has crossed a major milestone with over 4 GW of cumulative solar module production at its Tamil Nadu manufacturing facility as of May 2025. The plant has delivered 4,049 MW of solar modules and 1,441 MW of solar cells, with plans to scale up to 3.7 GW in cell production and 3.725 GW in module output by FY26.

Equipped with advanced automation and AI-driven technology, the facility manufactures high-efficiency Mono PERC and TopCon modules, fully aligned with Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) norms. This positions TP Solar as a key enabler of India's target to achieve 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, while strengthening the nation's renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem.

With a rated capacity of 4.3 GW expected to be fully operational by FY26, the plant is already supplying modules for both Tata Power projects and third-party installations. Notably, over 80% of the shop floor workforce comprises women, reflecting a strong commitment to gender diversity and inclusive growth.

TP Solar continues to play a pivotal role in India’s clean energy transition, with additional DCR-compliant facilities in Bengaluru further enhancing domestic production capabilities.
